Meaning, Purpose and the Mid-Life Turn
Existential grief, spiritual questioning, and the disorientation that arrives when the goals run out. What the second half of life is actually for.
Who I Help
I work with adults across North Carolina by secure video. Most of them are successful by any outside measure and unsettled by something they cannot quite name.
The Core
You have had a deep experience of success in your field or your trade. You did the work, you got the result, and you are looking around wondering what you missed. There is often grief in that. Real grief, for a meaningfulness you assumed would arrive with everything else.
That is the conversation I most want to be having at this point in my life. I am especially at home with professional artists and athletes, and with people in business and the professions who want their next decades to mean more than the last ones did.
What I Work With
Existential grief, spiritual questioning, and the disorientation that arrives when the goals run out. What the second half of life is actually for.
Chronic vigilance, racing thought, thin sleep, the low hum underneath a competent exterior. We work with the thinking and with the nervous system underneath it.
Flatness, loss of appetite for things you used to want, the weight that makes ordinary days expensive. Approached with patience rather than urgency.
Separation, death, retirement, the end of a career or an identity. Grief handled as something to move through rather than something to get over.
Older material that still shapes the present. Worked slowly, somatically, and never faster than you have said yes to.
The cost of holding a demanding life together for a long time, and what a real change of direction asks of you.
I also work with ADHD and relationship difficulties. I do not treat addictions or eating disorders, and I will refer you to a specialist if that is the primary concern.
Who I See
An Honest Note
This work asks you to get curious about your own mind. If you have no interest in developing self-awareness and self-regulation, I am not the right counselor for you, and I would rather say that on a website than three sessions in.
I am also not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
A free, confidential 15 to 20 minute conversation. No pressure and no paperwork, just a chance to hear each other out.
